New healthy eating pyramid
Friday 31 March 2017
The new healthy eating pyramid are understood within a framework of global health, with the aim of contributing to the well-being and quality of life.
They include topics such as mindful eating. That is, to think and plan with time the food that will be beneficial to us and how to prepare it.
The 'emotional' aspects of eating are also mentioned, such as the evidence that a higher intake of carbohydrates and fats is associated with anger, anxiety or frustration. And, therefore, a 'cognitive control' (vs physiological) of the dietary guidelines is recommended.
An option to be considered are dietary supplements, but individually monitored with professionals.
As opposed to other guides, as the one created by nutrition experts at Harvard School of Public Health (USA), which place fruits and vegetables at the base of the recommendations, these new guides recommend whole grain cereals for the main meals together with other foods which are rich in complexe carbohydrates.
