Lary León I am convinced that it is very important to take care of our brains, to exercise our memory, to associate ideas, to remember facts, so we can adapt better to change. That’s why it is fundamental that they can carry out research, that studies can be done, to help us to know those habits which contribute to keeping our brain in shape and healthy much longer throughout our life and, above all, and very importantly, which help to delay or to prevent neurological or psychiatric diseases. And besides, I don’t think it’s something we should realise when we reach a certain age. I believe that exercising our brain and keeping it healthy is an important thing to do from when we are very young. Just like we go to the gym and we do push-ups to be more flexible, our brain also needs to have some plasticity to prevent those problems that will later cause us to develop diseases. So I think we all have to be clear that it is very important to lead a healthy life on the outside but also on the inside and that, nowadays, and more so with all the new technologies, it is true that we have become lazier when it comes to remembering information. For example, today I can only remember two or three phone numbers but before we used to know lots. Why? Because now we have them saved on our mobiles or because we use digital agendas to remember birthdays or tasks to do. That makes life much easier but it is also true that it takes away having to exercise our memory in our everyday lives. So I believe that today, more than ever, we have to take into account that we have to use our brains, we have to exercise our memory and we have to keep our brains healthy.
