The study investigates the association between pain catastrophizing, brain system segregation, and the progression of chronic pain. It found that higher levels of catastrophizing and lower segregation of brain networks were strongly associated with a worsening in pain experience over time. These findings suggest that approaches focusing on these factors could minimize the impact of chronic pain on daily life activities.
